Easter Sunrise Service at the Lincoln Memorial

Every Easter the Capital Church celebrates the resurrection by hosting a sunrise service at the Lincoln Memorial. It's early and it is generally cold outside but the sunrising behind the Washington Monument is beautiful.

Flower Library: National Park Service

I love "Special Libraries" and the Floral Library managed by the National Park Service is fabulous. It is located between the Washington Monument and the Jefferson Memorial. In the spring there is a tulip library which is beautiful and in the summer there is a library of annuals. It's great to see the color and live plants as you are walking around the memorials. DC and the metro areas have great parks and green spaces; which is wonderful in an urban environment.

Cherry Trees in the Evening

The cherry blossom experience is different from morning to night. This photo was taken during an early evening stroll around the Tidal Basin.

All About Cherry Trees

Yoshinos, the majority species of the blossoms found at the Tidal Basin, provide wildlife value. Their small fruits are un-edible for people, but popular with domestic and migratory songbirds and small mammals, and their flowers provide pollen for bees. An eight inch Kwanzan cherry tree will reduce atmospheric carbon by 201 pounds.
